Homeopathy Remedy of the Week - Sulphur to pick you up!

If you have been one of the many people around the country who have suffered with the latest winter bug and viruses then you may have been left with some symptoms that do not go away.  I am a great believer in allowing winter colds and viruses to run their course, seeing them as good detox for the body.  But some viruses can be difficult to shake off.  If you have been left with a raw throat or a persistent tickly cough then consider taking a few doses of Sulphur 30c.  It is a good remedy for clearing up an illness and giving your energy system a boost to get back to good health.

People needing this remedy will always feel better in the fresh air and worse in stuffy rooms.  Sulphur symptoms are typically worse for heat and exhibit redness, such as a flushed face, rash or sore throat.  It can also help clear up smelly catarrh and red inflamed eyes.

Do beware of taking the remedy in acute situations if the person has chronic eczema without seeking advice from your local homeopath first.   It is the number one skin remedy for rashes or eczema such as nappy rash symptoms with lots of redness.  The baby will show signs of being worse for bathing and heat, but the skin will feel better for being exposed to the fresh air.

Sulphur has many uses in acute situations.  While cravings in pregnancy are quite normal, sometimes they can become a problem.  For a woman who has excessive cravings for sugar, sweet foods, as well as fats and butter then taking Sulphur 6c, three times a day can bring some balance.

Other uses include excessive perspiration which feels offensive as well as indigestion, constipation, diarrhoea and piles.  Though do not just prescribe on the condition.  Always remember to match the symptoms carefully to the best homeopathic symptom picture you can find.  Begin with one dose.  If you feel immediately better, there is no need to repeat unless the same symptoms return.  For acute illnesses use 30c potency or lower.  If symptoms persist for more than 2 to 3 days without change then do consult your local homeopath.

For general queries or acute advice I will be available at Bare Health on Saturday 9th February from 10am to 1pm.  You are welcome to drop in or book a free advice session in advance.  Call Bare Health on 01260 408413.
